Join with the Greater Community AIDS Project in celebrating the lives of those we have lost to HIV and AIDS and give new hope to those affected by HIV and AIDS. Featuring a performance by InnerVoices and inspirational words by several community leaders.
Light refreshments will be served.

Annually, more than 14,600 people die of HIV/AIDS related illness in the United States. Close to 50 of those are children under 13. It is estimated that since the pandemic began in 1981 more than 600,000 people have died. That number is equivalent to the full time population of the city of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Here in East Central Illinois we have seen a steady increase in the number of new HIV infections and the resulting deaths from HIV/AIDS related illnesses. Currently, the Greater Community AIDS Project (GCAP) serves over 300 individuals and their families in a 10-county area of East Central Illinois.

World AIDS Day has been a day set aside for the past 20 years to honor those individuals who have lost their lives.
