Broken Social Scene are playing at the University of
Illinois' Foellinger Auditorium on 10/19 in support of the newest album
in the Broken Social Scene Presents series - co-founder Brendan
Canning's solo album called Something For All of Us.

Recorded and produced in Toronto by Brendan along with Ryan Kondrat and
John La Magna, Something For All of Us... offers eleven musical gems
showcasing Brendan at his finest and placing him as the frontman, a role
he has taken on only three other Broken Social Scene songs. With his new
album, Brendan proves that frontman can be added to the long list of his
musical identities, including indie-rocker, Toronto house/disco jockey,
bedroom electronic producer and rhythmic cornerstone of BSS. The record
has it all too: guitar pop anthems ("Churches Under the Stairs," "Hit
the Wall"), shimmering ambient instrumentals ("All the Best Wooden Toys
are Made in Germany") and propulsive bass lines and drums ("Love is
New") balanced perfectly by softer compositions featuring stark piano
chords, keyboard hums and acoustic guitar ("Snowballs and Icicles").
Brendan's unassuming yet commanding voice shines, providing the perfect
final touch to every song.
