Hello all to the Urbana-Champaign community. My name is John Yongjoon Han and if you want to know more, you have to stop by the station during my time, where I spin and remix some of the hottest tracks out and unheard by most people in town. So if you get enough courage to stop by the station, just beware that it's gonna be a party. This station plays in conjunction with some of the hottest on-air DJ's in Chicago as well, so if you like what I play, head north to the CHI-TOWN (a.k.a. Chicago) and party at some of the world famous clubs there. Of course, before that, check out clubs in Downtown Champaign and you'll see that it isn't that bad there either. Call in at (217)337-1071 to get your information on clubs and some hot spots in Urbana-Champaign.

Biography

I first started DJing back home in Westmont, IL, where I was asked to find a DJ for a charity event called Dance Marathon. The goal was to not spend money, yet hire a DJ that wouldn't cost money, or would be cheap. I had an obsession for music back in the day and I also wanted to be the one to control the crowd. So I hopped right on and said that I would take the gig. But two problems arose immediately:
A) I didn't have any equipment
B) I didn't have any money to buy equipment (uh-oh)

Miraculously, my friend was also into DJing, but couldn't get on any gigs in clubs. So we said, why not? Then we rocked the house and blasted some hot tunes and made the crowd go wild. 400 students were partying and shaking it like no tomorrow. This allowed our names to get out and after the event, we were asked to do it again and again. We were also invited frequently to do sweet sixteens, etc. It all started as a live experience, but the audience was always smaller than that. So as I entered college, I said, what the heck, why not? I applied to be a DJ at WPGU and got right into Radioactivity. Now I play my favorite tunes at prime time hour, over the air and reach thousands of people.

Equipment

I don't have any equipment still. The only thing driving me is the love of music and the practice that my co-host Lincoln Jones gives me from remixing and live mixing. Other than that, I wish to soon purchase the following equipment to once again do gigs in front of crowds, etc.
1. 2x Technics 1210 M5G ($500 each)
2. 2x Pioneer CDJ MKIII ($1100 each)
3. 1x Pioneer DJM-800 ($1400)
4. 1x Rane Serato Scratch Live ($500)
5. 1x Amplifier
6. 2x JBL MRX-725
