Ween is an alternative rock band formed in 1984 in New Hope, Pennsylvania when Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo met in an eighth grade typing class and eventually became known as Gene and Dean Ween. The band self released 6 cassettes in the late 80s, finally getting signed to a Twin/Tone Records in 1989 and releasing their first studio album, GodWeenSatan: The Oneness. Their next release, The Pod, quickly gave them a following and continued in shaping their unique and characteristic sound. Their next five releases were on Elektra records from 1992-2000, gaining them mainstream popularity and eventually leading to their creating their own internet radio station in 2000 and starting their own record label, Chocodog Records. Through their label they released several live cds and re-releases of rarities and their old cassette tapes, inevitably signing with another label to release their next three releases, the latest of which, La Cucaracha, being released on October 23rd 2007.
