Regina Spektor is a Russian-born songwriter that has lived in New York since the age of 9. She has been playing the piano since she was a young girl in Russia and has been playing ever since. Regina began writing songs at the age of sixteen and has been playing live shows since she was a student at Purchase College. She self-released two albums, "11:11" and "Songs" in 2001 and 2002 respectively, and gained a large following in New York's East Village. She signed to Sire Records in 2003 and has released two full lengths and an EP since then. She opened for acts such as The Strokes, Kings of Leon, and Keane in 2004. Her 2006 album "Begin to Hope" featuring the single "Fideltiy", grew her an ever larger fan base. Since then, she has performed on every major night time talk show and many of America's largest indie rock music festivals.
