    Active from 1989 until the late 1990's, Pavement is an indie rock band based out of California. Composed of Scott Kannberg a.k.a. Spiral Stairs, Bob Nastanovich, Stephen Malkmus a.k.a. S.M, Steve West, Mark Ibold and Gary Young, the group has reached cult success, being sited as an influence of many of the bands that dominate the rock scene currently. Over the course of their history, Pavement released five full length albums including their most popular ventures "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" and "Slanted and Enchanted." Despite disbanding (for lack of better words) in the late 1990s, a number of the former members are still playing in bands such as Preston School and Industry and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks.
