Born as Gabriele Susanne Kerner, Nena is both the stage name of Kerner and the band with whom she released the 1984 single, "99 Luftballoons." Better known in English as "99 Red Balloons," the German New Wave hit has seemingly led Nena to fame atop a number of one-hit-wonder lists. In 1987, Kerner began touring as a solo artist and is currently still recording and playing music.
