New York based LCD Soundsystem, the brainchild of James Murphy, came out with the hugely talked about single Losing My Edge in 2002, a song that lampooned how over seriously many music fans take themselves. This single led to demand for more of Murphy's indie dance rock, which he provided with subsequent singles and eventually 2005's full length self titled album. Murphy's label, DFA, which he formed with Tim Goldsworthy was also highly sought after at this time. In 2007 LCD released Sound of Silver, their most mature album to date. Murphy's songs on this album have the same familiar, all analog, danceable backings, but feature mostly sincere lyrics dealing with everything from foreign policy to getting old.
