    Katrina and the Waves brought one of the most popular singles of the ‘80s to life with “Walking On Sunshine.” The band formed in 1981 in England and had an interesting ascent into the mainstream. They released their first album, Walking On Sunshine, at their own expense. The band found itself to have a strong following in Canada and started to tour internationally. Katrina and the Waves were eventually signed to a major record label, with which they re-recorded most of their previous album for a new “debut” album. After a decade out of the limelight, the band resurfaced with “Love Shine a Light,” the song that won them the Eurovision Song Contest. Katrina and the Waves disbanded in 1998.
