alaska! is really a band from California and is rising in the indie rock scene. Immad Wasif lead vocalist and guitarist, Russell Pollard bassist, and drummer from the Red Aunts Lesley Ishino have been making albums since 2003 with their first album titled Emotions. Their sophomore album Rescue Through Tomahawk released in 2005. Before their second album actually released the band toured and opened for bands like Dinosaur Jr. and The Bravery. They were on a quest to do something unique and fantastic. Bass player Russell Pollard says in an interview, "The very fundamental idea of what we created from the beginning was coming from the place where we wanted to do something different. We wanted to create something fresh and new for ourselves." Their music takes you on an emotional journey getting real close and personal to lead singer and songwriter Immad.
